BACKGROUND
Samuel Thomas Seiler, who prefers to be called just ‘Sam,’ comes to us from Lockport, New York. Seiler is 38 years old as of September 2019.
Seiler is involved in a program to support military veterans. From what we are able to gather, this is a highly credible program. In the online promotions for Sam Seiler and his military service, he is referred to as a Navy SEAL and Naval Special Warfare.
At the end of a promotional video, he is referred to as ‘RET’ (Retired) and ‘NSW’ (Naval Special Warfare).
One would think that if Seiler saw the video he would have pointed out things that were inaccruate. Then again, perhaps Seiler never saw it and was never in a position to suggest corrections.
Here is the video:

Seiler claims to have been a veteran of the US Navy and enlisted in “November of 2001 until January 2009.” (0:11)
Seiler claims “I was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.” (0:17)
There are many images of special operators displaying as Seiler talks.
Seiler claims to have “did a total of about five and a half years of battle time.” (1:33)
Some were skeptical and asked Military Phony to look into these claims.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES
After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of “Samuel Thomas Seiler” or “Sam Seiler” ever completing BUD/S Training or assigned to any SEAL teams.
Samuel Thomas Seiler’s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

FOIA RESULTS
The DoD Manpower Data Center database was searched every year from late 1996 when Seiler would have been 16 to present day with the same result – no dates came up for active duty in any military service branch. Sometimes this database has trouble with Reserve activation to active duty and/or very short enlistments. For instance – boot camp active duty and then the individual returned to a drilling reserve status.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY
Although Sam Seiler was not in the Navy, the NPRC picked up the fact that he did some time in the Air Force Reserve.
There was nothing in the NPRC Registry for Seiler with Navy Service. They also checked the Electronic system for any record of him serving in the Navy, and it was also negative.
Seiler enlisted in the Air Force Reserve from June 18, 2002 to May 15, 2004 was discharged as an Airman First Class and had no Active Duty. We have attached the FOIA information above.
There is no record of Seiler serving in the Navy. NPRC would have picked that up.
The Department of the Navy could not locate any record on him to prove that he even served with them.
There is no record supporting his claim of being a Navy SEAL since a prerequisit to being a SEAL is military service in the US Navy.
Seiler’s official military records do not support his claims of being a Navy SEAL or serving from 2001 to 2009.
There also would be no service as “battle time” as he claimed because one would have to be on active duty.
STOLEN VALOR
If the claims by Sam Seiler were used to leverage work, military or civilian promotions, or anything else of value, Seiler may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.
