BACKGROUND
Joseph Guy Foti comes to us from Nutley, New Jersey although on Facebook he claims that he lives in Henryville, Pennsylvania. He also has the middle initial “A” listed as an alias. Foti is 68 years old as of May 2019.
Notice in the above photo: 1) SEAL Trident 2) Silver Star 3) Bronze Star with “V” device 4) Purple Heart 5) Combat Action Ribbon with star to designate second award and 6) Jump Wings.
Using the cached information from an old LinkedIn profile that has since been deleted, Foti had claimed three (3) tours in Vietnam and one tour in North Korea. He also claimed covert operations and involvement in “Operation Enemy Helicopter.”
But on Instagram, he confirmed those tours…
Foti further elaborated on “Operation Enemy Helicopter” in a Facebook post that he made his main profile photo.
The above photo can be found here with a different caption than Foti has:

On Facebook, Foti recently used this image as his main profile image.
Before this, Foti had an image of a Purple Heart patch that said “Combat Wounded Veteran”…
Here is that same image in his Facebook ‘Photos’ section…
In another photo that Foti posted he wears a cap that says “Military Order of the Purple Heart” (image flipped horizontally from what he posted or it was a selfie in a mirror)…
The MOPH cap is significant because Joe Foti was the Chapter 366 Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Clifton, NJ.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES
After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of “Joseph Guy Foti” or “Joseph A. Foti” ever completing BUD/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team.
Joseph Foti’s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Since he claimed he retired from the Navy, both the Department of the Navy as well as the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) were contacted.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY
SUMMARY SHEET
Joseph Foit’s official military records show that he was in the US Navy for for about two and a half years active duty. He was enlisted and got out as a SN (E-3) vs. the officer LCDR (O-4) that he claimed.
Since he was separated at a Navy Hospital, he was either medically separated or was in the hospital field. Probably the former vs. the latter.
He was in during Vietnam, it appears he was on a ship that was close to Vietnam.
There are no schools or assignments that would support Foti’s claim of being a Navy SEAL.
Joseph Foti’s records do not support his claim of having been awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star with “V,” a Purple Heart or a Combat Action Ribbon. These awards put Foti in direct conflict with Stolen Valor laws.
STOLEN VALOR
If any of these claims were used to leverage work or promotions or anything else of value, Foti may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.
