BACKGROUND
David Stephen Bennett comes to us from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bennett is 64 years old as of April 2019.
Bennett has made numerous claims on his Facebook page and other sites that he was a US Air Force Fighter pilot and was a USAF Special Operations Officer – which did “Special Operations Globally and with the White House and Joint Chiefs, Including F.B.I, C.I.A. and N.S.A.”
Besides having a U.S. Navy SEAL for his profile picture, on an earlier version of his “Work and Education” section of “About” Bennett spoke about his time with the US Navy SEALs…

In a section of his LinkedIn profile, the claims are repeated… of note on his LinkedIn profile – he claims to have completed the 12 week USAF boot camp in just 11 days at Lackland AFB. Promoted 3 times in 90 days as an Officer in the USAF.

Bennett was challenged on some of his claims. He was warned about Senior Chief Don Shipley, a retired US Navy SEAL who verifies SEAL claims. Bennett became defiant…

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of David S. Bennett ever completing BUD/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team.

David Bennett’s official military records show that he was in the US Air Force for a few days over six (6) months. He was discharged as an Airman First Class (E-3) which is enlisted vs. the Colonel (O-6) officer rank which he claimed.
His records say he spent 6 weeks in basic training vs. the 11 days that he claimed.
There were no schools, qualifications or assignments that showed fighter pilot training.
There were no US Navy records found on him but to be fair we are not sure he was claiming to be a Navy SEAL, but had worked with them and was their Co-Commander, which certainly implies he was a SEAL.
BEHAVIOR
We think there is a larger issue at play here. Mr. Bennett has and holds an impressive string of jobs. He just seems to have an issue with DWIs and perhaps drinking in general. That said, he has to be of sound mind and body sometime to know that these claims are all over his Social Media.
It does not stand to reason that this was one or two isolated incidents. The claims seem purposeful. Maybe there is another underlying reason for his behavior.
Here is another post he made out of defiance to someone questioning him. He claims he sent SEAL Team One to Beirut in 1983, along with some other claims.
We are not psychiatrists or therapists – we simply point out what may be Stolen Valor regardless of the underlying reasons. If Mr. Bennett needs help, we hope that he is able to get the help he needs.
