Erick Phillipps from Reno Nevada came to the attention of Military Phonies (MP) when he tweeted that he was a veteran of 7 deployments as a ” rifleman” in the USMC.
Another one of his tweets where he claims to be a combat veteran.
This tweet, he is claiming combat wounded.
Sparking the interest of MP we decided to ask Mr Phillipps who he served with in the Marine Corps and what was his job title. (MOS)
2003 to 2015 as a 0311 (Infantryman) E-7 Gunnery Sergeant with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines. He gave MP permission to look his information up. So we did.
Actions preformed by Military Phonies
We first conducted a single records search at the Service members civil Relief Act (SCRA) website. Where it was discovered that Mr Phillips had served for exactly two years on Active duty in the US Army. May 11, 2004 to May 13, 2006 No listing was found for US Marine active duty.
We then filed for Mr Phillipps military service record under the Freedom of Information act. The results were the same as SCRA. Mr Erick D. Phillipps was discharged as a Private (E-1).
Summary and conclusion;
Mr Phillips did earn an Iraq Campaign Medal. He was discharged four months prior to the Combat Action Badge(CAB) being awarded to non Infantry Soldiers. So the claim of Mr. Phillipps having served in actual combat will remain a mystery.
However The fact that Mr. Phillipps claimed seven deployments with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines as an E-7 Gunnery Sergeant, having the MOS of 0311 Infantryman have been proven false for the following reasons
1. The MOS rank for an E-7 in an infantry Marine unit is 0369 instead of 0311
2. 2/5 Marines have deployed 4 times to combat from 2003 to 2015 instead of 7 as Mr Phillipps claims.
3. With the evidence shown above and with the criminal record that will be shown below. We can confirm that the county lockup is the only place Mr Phillipps deployed too.
Compiling all of this information together, we can confirm that Mr. Erick David Phillips is not a Marine combat wounded Veteran.
