BACKGROUND
Lester Kent Brown, or “Les” as he prefers to be called, comes to us from Spring Creek, Nevada. Brown is 59 years old as of July 2019.
Brown heads up a POW/MIA Chapter in Nevada but for some reason everyone around him believes he is a retired Master Sergeant that retired after a 20 year career in the military.
This is probably due to it being carried in the newspaper when they talked about him being an inspriration.
Also, the MSG rank is on his vest, along with a RANGER tab, Special Forces crests and a Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).
He also has a patch designating him as a Desert Storm veteran.
Notice the CIB in the photo above and this one below…

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY
Brown got out as a Specialist which is a lower enlisted rating than his claim of Master Sergeant (E-8).
It does not appear that he retired after 20 years. He was discharged as designated on his summary sheet. It would have said retired if he retired.
Brown does not have the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) under his awards and he does not have the medals or assignments that would support his claim of being in Desert Storm.
He also does not have assignment to any Special Forces units.
If Brown used these claims to gain anything of value he could be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.
