Ernest Keith Ramsey – U.S. Coast Guard “Seals-man”, Awarded U.S. Navy SEAL Trident in Private Ceremony, Blog of Shame

BACKGROUND

Ernest Keith Ramsey comes to us from Gastonia, North Carolina. His first name is listed as both “Ernest” and as “Earnest.” That said, he prefers to go by his middle name “Keith.” Ramsey is 51 years old as of May 2019.

As you can see in the above photo, Keith is an Emergency Medical Technician. That photo is the profile photo on his Facebook page.

On another Facebook page of his, he displays the U.S. Navy SEAL Trident.

It would be common to associate Ramsey with having been a Navy SEAL, but he claims he was a “Seals-man” [sic] while in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1986 – 1992.

On Facebook, Ramsey displays quite a few photos and the sequence and overall feel that they gives a strong implication of “U.S. Navy SEAL.”

Some are stock images of U.S. Navy SEALs that can be found on the internet. The following is from “Medal of Honor: Warfighter | The Escapist.”

This one is a popular wallpaper image of a U.S. Navy SEAL Sniper.

To be fair, Ramsey did not caption the above photos and did not claim they were him or anybody in his unit. However, to reiterate, the assimilation and placement intertwined with his own photos, not to mention the SEAL logos, leads one to a strong assumption that there’s an association with the Navy SEALs.

The photo of the diver giving the thumbs up is him, however.

Then, there are lot of random photos that were tagged with Ramsey’s comments. Here he is in Boliva with a team.

Here Ramsey claims he is with Task Force 120 in Niquragua [sic] – assume he meant ‘Nicaragua’ – and some time later edits the post to point out which one he is in the photo. The post was edited to show both versions of the comments.

This post was perhaps the most interesting…

The above post shows the uniform of a U.S. Coast Guard officer with a U.S. Navy SEAL trident pinned on it. The U.S. Coast Guard did have a program where they were permitted to go to BUD/S training. There were a few that graduated before the US Coast Guard/US Navy closed the program in 2011.

A SEAL with Military Phony spoke to the very man in the photo above who claimed it was him. Although he didn’t claim to be, it was clear that Keith Ramsey is not the man in the photo.

People became curious as to what exactly Keith Ramsey was claiming, so he was asked about some things.

CHALLENGED

Ramsey was asked (blue) by several different people via Facebook Private Messaging (PM) and here are Ramsey’s responses (gray).

Someone else spoke with Ramsey via PM and he summarized his time in the U.S. Coast Guard, much the same with other people.

Most of these claims of interdiction into hot spots around the world are difficult to verify, but the claim of being awarded a U.S. Navy Trident in an official private ceremony sanctioned by the Coast Guard, and apparently the U.S. Navy SEALs… peaked the interest of a lot of people.

As a refresher, here is the statement again…

This did not sound correct. We checked around and could not find one U.S. Navy SEAL that has heard of this – official lending of the Trident.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of Ernest Keith Ramsey ever completing BUD/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team.

Ernest Keith Ramsey ‘s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

CRIMINAL

There were lots of criminal records related to controlled substances… too many to put here but many stemmed from the same series of incidents.

Earnest Keith Ramsey – Criminal – Guilty of Attempted Trafficking Opium/Heroin

01/12/2009 – TRAFFICK OPIUM/HEROIN 4-13 GRA (ATTEMPTED) [GUILTY]
01/24/2009 – OBTAIN CONTR SUBST BY FRAUD (PRINCIPAL) [GUILTY]

11/28/2008 – OBTAIN CONTR SUBST BY FRAUD (PRINCIPAL) [CONVICTED]

After we spoke with someone that worked as an Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) in Narcotics, he said that this may be related to taking a prescription pad which an EMT would have access to in an Emergency Room. Not saying this for certain, but it certainly fits the string of charges.

The ex-LEO that we spoke to said this happening was more common than you would think and he used to see it all the time.

It is ironic that Ramsey appears to take his Drug Interdiction time in the Coast Guard so seriously but then went over to the side.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY

SUMMARY SHEET

Keith Ramsey’s official military records show that he was in the US Army for three (3) months – probably for boot camp as part of the Army Reserve. Another possibility is that he didn’t complete training for some reason.

He was in the US Coast Guard as from 1988 – 1992. His claim on Facebook is for the Coast Guard from 1986 – 1992. He does not talk about the U.S. Army much but he does mention it in the PMs. Odd that he lumps all of his service under the Coast Guard.

He was discharged from the Coast Guard after four years as a (SN) Seaman (E-3).

Based on the Humanitarian Service Medal, the CG Sea Service Ribbon and the Special Operations Service Ribbon, there is no reason to think that Ramsey was not in all the places that he claimed he was. A history of assignments was not provided by the NPRC but it may not list individual operations anyway, just a general assignment to a unit.

U.S. NAVY SEAL TRIDENT

There is no U.S. Navy SEAL Trident listed in Ramsey’s records. This would be consistent with his story that it was awarded in a private ceremony and that he did not wear it around.

This is hard to believe – that the U.S. Navy SEALs would allow a symbol of their achievement – to be worn by other units from another service that have not completed the necessary training in order to wear it.

In addition to this, it is hard to believe that this was officially sanctioned by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Moreover, we have no idea what Ramsey means when he gave himself the “Seals-man” [sic] designation.

For anybody out there that may be confused let us clear this up for you – Ernest Keith Ramsey was NOT a Navy SEAL. Hopefully he and others will be pleased that we were able to provide this clarity since it does not exist on his Facebook page. Quite the contrary – it appears to be confusing if not misleading.

STOLEN VALOR

If any of these claims were used to leverage work or promotions or anything else of value, Ramsey may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.
