Jesse Perez – U.S. Army Ranger (Ret), Six Combat Deployments, Multiple PHs, POW, Blog of Shame

BACKGROUND

Jesus L. Perez, aka Jesse Perez, comes to us from Pittsburg, CA which is near San Francisco.  He is 37 y/o as of January 2019.

Jesse tweets under the name Jesse@Gypsy_DynasFTW and ProudAnchorBaby…

… or at least he did until those accounts were shut down.

In any case, Perez would jump into political discussions and often mention his military experience, presumably to bolster his opinion on the issue based on direct experience. Here he claims that he is a “retired Army Ranger who served for over 10 years with 6 combats deployments” and was a POW…

On another post, Perez claims he has multiple Purple Hearts…

In the following post, he claims to have been a Prisoner of War (POW) for 16 days…

. . . . .

Jesus L. Perez’s military records were requested through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

FOIA RESULTS

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE – MANPOWER DATA CENTER (DoDMDC)

Note: The above result was characteristic of all results. No record of active duty service. This database was systematically searched from 1996 when Perez would have been 15-16 years old, to present day January 2019. The result posted above was just an example of no result.

NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER – NPRC

NOTE: FOIA requests were filed on Perez multiple times.

In addition, multiple resources were checked to confirm Perez’s claim of being a Prisoner of War (POW). His name was not listed in the mulitple resources that we checked.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY

U.S. ARMY RANGER, 10 YEARS SERVICE, PURPLE HEARTS

Since a military record could not be located for Perez, the claims could not be confirmed and cast doubt upon them. If he has proof to the contrary, he may want to get with NPRC and get his records straightened out.

PURPLE HEART

This may be a case of stolen valor since Perez is claiming he has Purple Hearts – plural. This would be in violation of the Stolen Valor Act.

The NPRC does not have record of Jesus L. Perez’s military service. If these claims are being leveraged for something of value, Perez may be in violation of the Stolen Valor Act.
