BACKGROUND

Anthony John Benardello comes to us from Florence, South Carolina. At the time of this writing, August 2020, Benardello is 61 years old.  His nickname is “The Wolf.”

Benardello attended college at the State University of New York.  He was elected president of the Student Association but his time was marked by controversy.

Here is a claim of being a “sniper in Special Forces:…

SOURCE: The Aquinas – The University of Scranton Student Newspaper

This, in turn, was picked up by the New York Times.  Due to publication in the NY Times, it got quite a bit of publicity…

There was a claim about being in the Gulf War.

benardello - gulf war veteran

Although Benardello was not directly quoted, it makes one wonder how the journalist could arrive at such a conclusion or for that matter, why didn’t Benardello correct the claim if it was not true he was a Gulf War veteran?

On his now-deleted Facebook page, Benardello makes several claims i.e. sniper, HALO, etc. as well as attending Campbell Law School from 1998-2000.

On his high school alumni page, which was used to determine his Facebook profile above, listed several other claims including graduating law school.  This is a different law school (UNC Chapel Hill) than above (Campbell).  There is no listing we could find that shows that Benardello graduated or is a practicing attorney, so providing it is true that he attended and graduated he may not have taken or passed the bar exam but we don’t know for sure.

Notice that he claims Delta with SFOD-D out of Ft. Bragg, NC.

Here is an article that Benardello wrote for the school publication Bingington Review.  In the article, he talks about serving in Somalia in the 1993 The Battle of Mogadishu, detailed in the movie “Black Hawk Down.”  The claim of serving for 12 years with Special Forces is in his brief bio at the end of the article.

CRIMINAL

There were quite a few criminal charges found on Benardello.  He appears to have spent time in prison for conspiracy to commit murder.  Some aspects were overturned on appeal – see case specifics here.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY

LENGTH OF SERVICE

Although there were minor variations in the exact join and release days, both the DoD Manpower Data Center (SCRA) results as well as the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) summary page list active duty dates of 09-10 MAR 1984 through 22-23 APR 1986 — just over two years.

There are no listing of dates that would have accounted for Operation Desert Shield/Storm (ODS/S) nor were there listing of dates that would have accounted for Benardello being in Somalia in April or October of 1993.  The Battle of Mogadishu was fought on October 3rd and 4th, 1993.

RANK

He left the Army as a Private First Class (E-3).  We did not find any claims of rank so this is a non-issue other than it would have been hard to achieve all of the training he claimed with both time in service and rank.

ASSIGNMENTS

As discussed above – no Somalia, Afghanistan, or Iraq.

MEDALS

The only medal listed in Benardello’s records was an Army Service Medal.

If he had been overseas, there would have been either an Army Overseas Ribbon (OSR) and/or an Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon (ARCOTR) which is the Army Reserve version of the Army Overseas Service Ribbon.

Benardello’s official military records had neither overseas ribbon.

The rest of his awards were shooting and grenade badges.

TRAINING

There is nothing in Benardello’s military records reflect sniper training.

We should note that he qualified as a sharpshooter, which further casts doubt on his claim of being a sniper.

. . . . .

STOLEN VALOR

If the claims by Anthony Benardello were used to leverage work, military or civilian promotions, or anything else of value, he may have been in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.

Welcome to your upcoming Google Fame Anthony John Bernadelio. Might wanna go buy yourself some iron underwear cause you fixin to get that azz chewed. The troops of TAH are slobbering like Pavlov’s Dogs for aq new chew toy. Plenty of doubt about your claims of Military Service, but there is no doubt at all over your meatgazer’s stare . You may want to hook up with an Ass. in Elko NV.. They could raise your awareness on proper vest wearing and chili eating.

  2. Do the HAs know about this?

    • Daniel_USMC says:

Probably not, but maybe those in the HAs or 81 world should let them know!

    • HMC(FMF)Ret_87-10 says:

He is not an 81 member. The vest pic shows RDMC (Florence Chapter). This is supported by his Fakebook page listing RDMC and stating that he “supports the 81 world in general”.

Just your garden variety of hang-around that doesn’t have the balls to go all in… or the 81’s just don’t want a lying POS-POSER.

  3. The Grunt says:

Apparently he was ASSIGNED to the Ranger TSB which I believe is the TRAINING Support Battalion for the 75th. I’m not sure if they wear the scroll or not so his claim to being a Ranger is most likely true. Only due to the fact that he was assigned to the 75th though.

One cannot go from the Rangers to SFOD-D without first going through the selection process for Delta. Much like DEVGRU has a separate selection process for the SEALS Delta has a separate selection process as well. Further, you cannot be a Sniper with only a Sharpshooter qualification. Nor can you even begin the process as a PFC.

    • rgr769 says:

He was assigned to the 3rd Bn/ 75th Inf at Ft. Benning for some period after AIT and jump school. He was likely found not to be Ranger material, so he was sent to the 3rd Ranger Company, which is the Ranger School’s entity to which all the instructors and admin/supply support people are assigned. Anyway, that is what was the structure back in ’86. TSB stands for Training Support Brigade, which was the 3rd Ranger Co.’s parent unit at the Infantry School. As a PFC or SP4 (he may have been busted before he got the boot) he would likely have performed some support duty for Ranger School. For example, someone had to drive the trucks that were driven into the kill zone for our vehicle ambush training.

  4. Jacob Sockness says:

What makes a dude think he’d fly under the radar with these claims? If you enlisted to measure dicks you probably signed for the wrong reasons. Pulling the vet card anywhere is pretty faggy in the first place.

No one thinks a fat sweaty dude is hard af. No one cares how many confirmed kills you got, or how hardcore you were

My platoon Sgt wouldn’t shut up about his 5 confirmed kills. No one gave a shit. It’s not cool. Id punk him out if I ran into him, dude can’t pull rank or give me a field grade.

Fat, sweaty fucks bragging about taking lives deserve to get mogged. I don’t give two shits about your ribbon rack or what you used to be. I didn’t enlist to dick measure and ride out vet benies while telling everyone I meet about the hardcore shit I did. Pathetic.
Rest on your laurels when you’ve done something good. Lighting up dudes falls well bellow that standard. Any limp dick saying otherwise is free to gimme a demo of their lethality. Because I just found a punch of dudes pissing their pants and passing out or lighting up kids. It’s a big circle jerk.

    • murdock says:

      jacob seems quite angry

      • Jacob Sockness says:

That sloppy limp dicks pecker measure about how hardcore they used to be or that BBC power-bottoms incessantly brag about killing people?
The former I’d laugh at. The latter is the calling card of a shitbag.

If you’re talking my former faggot platoon sgt? Spot on, moneygrip.
Turns out that I value human life, I’m not into lighting some guy up then taking a trophy photo with the corpse.

If you’re assmad about me belittling your precious ribbon rack and/or gay ass shadow box, you can go curl up in the fetal position and just cry it all out. I do not care. I threw out my Class-A’s at some gas station in Montana and pissed on my blue chord in a field. I give 0 shits.
Putting little kids in the middle of live fire to come home and see that its all for fags in D.C. fellating Larry Fink to launder money into their retirement portfolio isn’t something I brag about.

Go write Robert Bales a letter thanking him for is service. He did great covering up a kill squad. Hell, maybe you can go tickle your prostate if he writes you back and you both can have a bonding moment.

  5. MrBill says:

Not only a valor thief, but a racist piece of shit with his “14 words”. Screw him.
