BACKGROUND
Dane Paul Reason comes to us from Hessmer, Lousiana. Reason is 51 years old at the time of this writing – March 2020.
Reason adorns his Facebook page with SEAL-related imagery.
When people associate the Facebook images on his page and him as a SEAL, Reason confirms their assumptions.
Then, Reason’s shadow box with a SEAL Trident and jump wings.
Here is a post where Reason makes a direct claim of going to BUD/S and SEAL Qualification Training (SQT).
With a simple image search, it was discovered that the above photograph was associated with Operation Ocean Shield from 2009-2016, many years after Dane Reason got out of the Navy.
Some people were skeptical and asked Military Phony to look into these claims.

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of “Dane Paul Reason” or any other variation of his name ever completing BUD/S Training or assigned to any SEAL teams during the time he was in the Navy.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY
Dane Reason’s official military records from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) do not support many of his claims.
Rating
Dane Reason was in the MS rating. That stands for Mess Specialist (cook). He got out of the Navy as a MS3, which is an E-4.
Medals
The official military records do not support Reason having the SEAL Trident or parachute jump wings.
Navy SEAL
Reason’s records show no training as a Navy SEAL nor any duty assignments as a Navy SEAL. A good deal of Reason’s time was spent aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67).
As mentioned before, Dane Reason was not found listed in the BUD/S-SEAL database when it was checked.

Dane Paul Reason, on paper, had what could have been considered honorable service to be proud of but decided to take a great big steaming dump on it. Guys look past the Seal claims; WHY COULDNT HE FIND A WAY TO MAKE E5 IN TEN YEARS?
Low speed, high drag maybe? Been a lying POS all of his life? Constantly screwed up the mid rats, you know, couldn’t open a fresh loaf of bread and lay out some cold cuts? Never got the bug juice mixed properly? All of the above?
IMHO making it to E5 during that time frame was very doable. Show up and do your job. Seems like he only did about half of that.
I agree with you. I was hoping someone like him could have found a better purpose in his life after the military. I struggle to be the person I am supposed to but I never claim to be something I wasnt.
Simple career synopsis for this widening anal fissure:
1) Boot camp
2) Sent to JFK as a Fireman Apprentice (engineering type)
3) Completes sea tour and goes to MS “A” School. Re-enlists for 4 yrs. while there.
4) Goes to Norfolk to work in mess hall and is discharged 2y 8mo later.
Total Active Service: 5 yr 11mo 19 dy if my math is good (89Apr24 – 96Apr05)
NARA 13164 appears to be in error showing 10 years.

I have an older brother who failed basic training twice. 1977. They gave him a section 8. And he brags today about his social promotion to his infantry unit in ft steward ga. I punched his lights out. These two must have eaten the same turd

When I was an 18A on joint SOF assignments I used to razz SEAL’s I served with: “Thank God for you Navy SEALs otherwise most of the posers would be pretending to be SF guys!”
Never could understand why a Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, or Marine, can’t be happy with just completing their service, be proud of their accomplishment, and share their True stories with their Fellow Comrades. I ended up doing 22 years total, and was forced to retire in the Army National Guard along with 13 years active duty. I retired in 1998 at 44. I am now 66, and have been drawing my Military Retirement for 6 years. Dane, Just Be Real, and Apologize.
