BACKGROUND

Frederick Porter Emmart (II) comes to us from Keyser, West Virginia. Emmart is 44 years old as of February 2020 – the time of this writing.

Fred Emmart – Bathroom Selfies

While discussing a Facebook post of Emmart in a Navy uniform, he says that he is retired and living in West Virginia.

On Emmart’s Facebook profile, it says he was an Operations Specialist (OS) and retired from the Navy. It also says he is a Disabled Veteran, former Boat-swain [sic], Culinary Specialist and Petty Officer First Class (E-6).

It says he is an Operations Specialist under the Facebook ‘About’ section.

Emmart has photos and comments posted that gives the implication that there is a strong connection with himself and the US Navy SEAL community.

And even states he was serving with them at the time.

In fact, Emmart was asked about this…

Emmart claimed to have many jobs while in the Navy…

Emmart even said he was with the SeaBees…

Emmart was asked about being with the Marines…

Emmart had a posting on his page about bombs going off…

Emmart was asked about his rank and if he was in combat. He said he received a Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) for Operation Desert Shield. Besides ODS/S being before he enlisted in 1993, the “combat” part of that operation was called “Storm” and not “Shield.” He was honest about his rank and said E-5 vs. E-6 but felt he was so close to E-6. Recall it is claimed as PO1 (E-6) on his Facebook profile.

There were many other claims about deployments and time frames. They were somewhat off (i.e. Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital from 2009-2013) but it may get hard to follow this case to post all of them.

Some people became skeptical and asked Military Phony to look into these claims.

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY

The records show that Fred Emmart served in the US Navy from 1993 to 2013. He was discharged as a Culinary Specialist Second Class (E-5).

He did just over 20 years in the Navy and retired. There was no discrepancy there.

RATINGS AND ASSIGNMENTS

His records show no other training or rating other than the CS rating.

He was not a Boatswain’s Mate (BM) or Operations Specialist (OS).

Emmart’s records do not support a claim of being a Special Boats Operator or Navy SeaBee.

COMBAT VETERAN

There is no Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) listed in Emmart’s military records that would designate him as being in combat.

If a combat veteran is someone that was aboard a ship in the waters supporting a combat action, and either fired missiles or launched planes in direct support of that mission, the ship is usually given a Combat Action Ribbon but it is not an individual award. It may be a truthful claim of the sailors on board to claim they were a combat veteran.

DISABILITY

Emmart may have a service connected disability but since he did the full twenty years for retirement, it does not appear to be a Navy career cut short by a medical retirement but we don’t know. If there was a disability, it would most likely be an injury vs. being combat wounded or he would have a Purple Heart medal and a Combat Action Ribbon.

STOLEN VALOR

If the claims by Fred Emmart were used to leverage work, military or civilian promotions, or anything else of value, he may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.

WHAT is wrong with being a cook? The CS have more effect on morale than anyone! It is an honorable and necessary rate!

  2. 5th/77th FA says:

Frederick Porter Emmart II is an embellishing waste of oxygen. Thank you MP for blurring the innocent little dog’s face. A cook that became a SEAL huh? Didn’t somebody made a motion picture about that? You look like you may have cooked up a team of 6 seals and made a meal out of them. Hung out with the Captain and the highers, partying? You do have the tats and that meat gazing bathroom stare going on, so there is that. Probably wanted to be a cabin boi when under way and not at the pier. Enjoy your upcoming Google Fame, Dippy. The TAH Troops are going to have fun with this one.

Combat? On a ship? In a kitchen? Could be true? Nah! He just took a dump on the guys that really served
    Shameful

  4. Steven Chance says:

    Honorable service… why lie ?

  5. NHSparky says:

20 years and E-5 almost certainly means HYT.

    • 306th MP BN says:

Grandfathered in most likely. If he hit HYT he wouldn’t been able to retire.

  6. Contractor1803 says:

This is the guy who took Seaman Sheetz up the Nung River in Afghanistan, after Petreus went nuts with his band of Montagnards and his West Point Mistress. Some heavy stuff man, like wow.

  7. MommaBear says:

He also likes to message under age girls on
Facebook making lude and sexual comments.
That is, until Momma went after him!!

    • JBUSMC says:

      Wait… what?

      • MommaBear says:

Yes several years ago, he was on my underage (at the time) daughter’s facebook telling her he would like to “hit that”. I called him out not only on my page tagging him in the posts, but on his page as well. I seen him out, pulled my car over and confronted him about the situation. He tried blamining on his mentally handicapped brother. But was told by his “best friend” that only he has the lock codes to all devices that access his social media.

Oh jesus christ leave the poor guy alone. Now your just making stuff up for a story.

I always say that I’ve met a hundred Navy “Seals,” but I’ve never met a Navy cook. This guy is all I could ever ask for. Amongst his many claims, cook is tucked right in there. Finally! I was beginning to think the Navy was eating M.R.E.’s and ramen while deployed.

  10. Phil says:

The closest this POS ever got to a SEAL was visiting the seal tank at the zoo. SEAL, BM ammo handler, MA Deuce gunner, cook, OOD (I think he meant masterbater at arms), small boat driver, all that and a 20 year E5, yup we got ourselves a real honest to goodness hard charger here….more like a back alley on his knees bend over boi.

  11. Bill says:

Just leave the poor guy alone you really had to go lurking on his facebook. What does that say about you?

  12. Troy Newsom says:

Fred worked for me. He was a great night baker!

  13. Nicky D says:

Damn, this dude was a cook on the ship I was on lol. Honestly he was pretty cool, always a happy guy in a job that truely sucks ass and always gave people more food and and stuff like that. I can confirm he was onboard the ship while we launched missiles iso operation oddesy dawn. I’m also pretty sure he was a 50 gunner or at the very least he was 50 qualed but that would basically be everyone on a destroyer save some engineers. My experience with fred was good he was well liked I wish he didn’t have to lie about his service as it was definitely honorable but unfortunately will now be tarnished.
