Margaret “Maggie” DeSanti – US Army Nurse, Lieutenant Colonel, Silver Star, Vietnam, ODS/S, Blog of Shame

BACKGROUND
Margaret C. DeSanti comes to us from Mesa, Arizona. DeSanti is 84 years old as of October 2019.
This is an old story, really, since Ms. DeSanti was published by This Ain’t Hell in 2014. They could find no Army records on her to support her claims.
DeSanti was back in the news a few days ago..
Since Ms. DeSanti was back in the news, another stolen valor article was posted about her on Monday 21 October 2019.
DeSanti became an intriguing “feel-good” story by riding on a flight sponsored by Honor Flight Arizona. The Honor Flight Arizona organization came out with the following statement:
“For the first time in 11 years, Honor Flight Arizona has received reports that a veteran who participated in a recent Honor Flight trip may have misrepresented or embellished their military service. We appreciate the concern over this matter that has been expressed by our community and we want to let everyone know that we take this very seriously. Due to privacy considerations, we cannot share more information on this matter.”
On “THE FIVE,” a show on the FoxNews Channel, the now-viral video of DeSanti doing pushups was highlighted and and she was presented as an Army Nurse.
We reached out to Dagen McDowell / The Five to ask for their consideration to do a correction but have not gotten a response back.
Then, military.com picked up on the story and posted that some doubt DeSanti’s military record.
Task and Purpose now picked it up:

As well as American Thinker:
Many were skeptical and asked Military Phony to look into these claims.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES
Although we do not expect to get different Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) results than This Ain’t Hell received in 2014, Military Phony refiled another FOIA accounting for several names that DeSanti could have served under, but her uniform does have the name tag of “DESANTI.”
Margaret C. DeSanti’s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
. . . . .
FOIA RESULTS
The DoD Manpower Data Center database was searched every year from mid 1980s when it has viable data to present day with the same result – no dates came up for active duty in any military service branch. Sometimes this database has trouble with Reserve activation to active duty and/or very short enlistments. For instance – boot camp active duty and then the individual returned to a drilling reserve status.
Here is one negative result that would have covered time in ODS/S…
NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER (NPRC)
Here is the “no records found” FOIA result from 2014…
. . . . .
DISCUSSION and SUMMARY
Military records for Margaret DeSanti were not found at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) when a request was made in 2014.
A recent follow up FOIA request to NPRC asking to account for various spellings of the last name also came back with a “no records found” result.
DeSanti is not recorded as having earned a Silver Star in any of the online databases.
STOLEN VALOR
If the claims by Margaret DeSanti were used to leverage work, military or civilian promotions, or anything else of value, he may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.

Wake up, Maggie, I think these people got something to say to you.
Heartless, shameless BITCH
Let’s add some more Google Fame for you phony Army Nurse lying POSer Margaret DeSanti. No doubt now that among other things, you are now officially guilty of stolen valor for monetary gain. Your age and supposed mental issues may keep you out of jail, but the innerwebz will forever remember how you scammed people and stood in the blood of Army Nurses who did serve.
Saddest part is you just don’t care. ESAD…scrunt!
Tramp stamped!!
I did not think RLO received GCM?
Plus I think she has air force wings?, not Army
Those wings are the Senior Flight Nurse wings of the U.S. Air Force. During the period Maggie falsely claims to have served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, there was no such MOS as “flight nurse.” Earlier photos show her wearing the basic flight nurse wings. Somehow as a military retiree she advance to the Senior Flight Nurse status. Maybe she was attached to the air force, working medical aircraft taking our wounded back to Germany from the sandbox for treatment.
Wow. According to her Chest Candy, she’s served in the Global War On Terrorism.
Considering her present age of 84, she would have been 68 years old when Iraq started, and 65 or 66 when the first troops hit the ground in Afghanistan.
I don’t think they were calling them up for nurses at that age.
I just tried to ‘friend’ this ‘Wanna’ Be’ on facebook and she has taken her facebook page down. Seems as though someone beat me too it.
I just tried to ‘friend’ her on facebook but she has taken her site down.
You just know that somewhere, somewhere, Maggie told somebody that she was the inspiration for Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan.
Wow. Her “awards” (ribbons ‘n’ junk) move around more than my vacuum cleaner on a slow day. They aren’t just mobile, either. Looks like they come and go with the way the wind blows.
I’m dazzled… or something.
Now she’s claiming that she’s one of the four Army nurses in a group photo on the Women’s Memorial website, when in fact, she is nothing of the kind.
In addition to having no record of military service, DeSanti does not come up as a nurse in any of the state licensing registers that were researched. Therefore, it is very doubtful that she was ever a nurse at all, either RN or LPN.
It would be extremely unfortunate if, having puffed herself off as a nurse, someone actually needed medical help and she proves to be unable to provide even basic aid.
She is wearing the Air Force Senior Flight Nurse wings on her uniform. Interesting how someone who claims to have served 30 in the Army managed to earn Air Force Senior Flight Nurse wings. I guess she needs a badge for a job description the Army never had during those “Vietnam Times.” As one who actually called for Dustoff missions for my men who were wounded, became seriously ill or injured in Vietnam, I can say there was no such thing as an Army “flight nurse” who rode in Hueys, let alone rappelled out of them. Our nurses were back in the evac hospitals treating our wounded, not flying around in medevac helicopters where they had no function. There was also no need for a medevac helicopter to have anyone rappel into the jungle, as that function was performed by a hoist and jungle penetrator device.
My mother is a registered nurse and spent 30+ hard years working in civilian hospitals. If Margaret DeSanti is an actual RN (which I have doubts about) then in addition to her falsified military claims, she insults nurses and healthcare professionals everywhere. IMO she should spent 1000 hours doing volunteer work at a VA hospital to atone for her lies. If she can still do pushups at age 84, then she can empty the bedpans of our wounded warriors.
What veteran in a VA hospital would want her near them. She should be on the VA dock handling medical waste and body parts. After all she has been there done that. Great way to give her a reality wake up call.
She’s Pletchner from “Repo Man” after a disasterous gender re-assignment. And should get her foot in the ring on being a surviving Mnt. Suribachi flag-raiser, carrying wounded half-frozen Marines out of the Chosin Reservoir, and putting the flippers on to get the flotation collar around the Apollo 11 space capsule after splashdown. Maybe she even crawled into the capsule to give the boys a quick checkup prior to donning their quarantine suits, risking deadly Moon Germs.
Heap on the ridicule, Lads. This one deserves it more than most.
I am speechless????
At what point are weirdos supposed to be “old enough to know better”.
I guess never. A life long member of our Legion post was recently outed as a phony WW-2 vet that always told the greatest war stories when I was a kid. Claimed to be at the “Battle of The Bulge. ” I do not no the details of how he was outed but, I was told it was his brother that told on him. Turns out he was in the Army but never left New Jersey during the war and was not a Combat Medic as he claimed and did not receive the Silver Star or Purple Heart as he claimed. I was very disappointed to here of this because I always respected him. How he got away with this for so long is a mystery. He was 94 years old when he was outed. What a shame!
D’oh! (to quote Homer Simpson).
Maybe we should hook her up with another phony medic, Capt Roger Edwards USN, https://historynewsnetwork.org/article/8212
I am a US Army Vet who lives here in Mesa, Arizona. We’ve had a few stolen valor phonies out here, the worst one from Apache Junction, who was featured on the POWnetwork.org when they still had their Stolen Valor section up. Never heard of this women but I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for her when our local Veteran’s Day Parade happens next month.
