BACKGROUND

Eric James Winstead comes to us from Rockmart, Georgia. Winstead is 46 years old as of October 2019.

Eric Winstead

Winstead has passed around a resume where he claims he was a Navy SEAL, is a retired Master Chief (E-9), claims he was Commanding Offider of SEAL Team 7, spent 22 years in the Navy before he retired, held a “Department of Defense Level 5 Security Clearance” and was awarded the “President’s Medal of Honor.”

Winstead is also flashing around a Medal of Honor certificate to support his claim of the MoH.

Also, there are many images of special operators display on his Facebook account.

However, the image above shows U.S. Marines vs. Navy sailors/SEALs.

Some were skeptical and asked Military Phony to look into these claims.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of “Eric James Winstead” ever completing BUD/S Training or assigned to any SEAL teams.

Eric James Winstead’s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

. . . . .

FOIA RESULTS

The DoD Manpower Data Center database was searched every year from late 1980s when Winstead would have been 16 to present day with the same result – no dates came up for active duty in any military service branch. Sometimes this database has trouble with Reserve activation to active duty and/or very short enlistments. For instance – boot camp active duty and then the individual returned to a drilling reserve status.

DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY (DoN)

Department of the Navy – No Records Found on Winstead

NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER (NPRC)

National Personnel Records Center – No Records – Referred to DoN

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY

A military record on Eric Winstead was not found at the Department of the Navy, or the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC). If he had served, especially 22 years as he had claimed, one of those organizations would have record of it.

There is no record supporting Winstead’s claim of being a Navy SEAL since a prerequisit to being a SEAL is military service in the US Navy.

Winstead could not have served as Commanding Officer of SEAL Team 7 since he had claimed to be enlisted vs. officer.

The Medal of Honor certificate appeared to be based on a genuine one awarded to SEAL Michael A. Monsoor.

Here is a side-by-side comparison…

STOLEN VALOR

If the claims by Eric Winstead were used to leverage work, military or civilian promotions, or anything else of value, he may be in violation of Stolen Valor laws. State laws may also apply.

There has to be some law violation here, just claiming to be a M O H should be, in my humble opinion.

    • Mike Lovin says:

      Not anymore…

The supreme court ruled in U.S. v. Alvarez that the statement is free speech.

      • Steve says:

I believe that was reversed under the new Stolen Valor law, where claiming any of the top 3 valor awards or a purple heart for personal gain can be prosecuted.

      • PSC(EXW) Ryan J. Smith says:

Your partly correct they passed a second statute after the Alvarez case, now if you wear the Medal of Honor and gain monetarily you can be prosecuted under the new law. Very difficult though and these posers know this.

      • Gunnee mujahed says:

Send his fake American ass to iraq

  2. Phil Millard says:

Al Clark and Erik Prince may have something to say about this Piece of Shit claiming to be a founder of Blackwater. And that Medal of Honor? I guess it’s a super secret never recorded award since his name doesn’t appear in the Medal of Honor Society’s official records.

F**kin lying sack of shit needs to have his ass handed to him on a stick.

    • Paul says:

I was wondering if Winstead would be outed here. Senior Chief Shipley got him and uploaded the video about 3 weeks ago. It was a good one, Senior took down Winstead and then Winstead threatened an array of attorneys and lawsuits [rolls eyes].

While this website has identified hundreds of “stolen valor bums,” I nominate this jackass as the worst ever. MoH (with fraudulent certificate), SEAL Master Chief, and two decades of service and sacrifices . . . AND NOT A DAY IN UNIFORM. The facts speak for themselves.

    • Colby Phelps says:

Absolutely. And the worst part: he stole Mikey Monsoor’s Medal of Honor certificate and put his own name on it and claimed it. Un.Believable.
