Richard Pence comes to us from the State of Virginia. It’s one of those cases where he was outed by a family member that thought he was a SEAL and posted a picture to a Navy Veterans page on Facebook.

So the friend of a SEAL did contact the SEAL in question. We decided to take a look and the same picture is on his timeline.

We reached out to him to see what his story was and he explained himself. We had already determined that Richard had never graduated SEAL training.

He earned the Trident is what he says. Terrible car accident after graduating stopped him from going further. It was explained to him that graduating gets you on the list for graduating. It was also explained that graduating BUD/S does not make you a SEAL.

He claims he graduated BUD/S in February of 1987.

He has to get his stuff to tell me all about it. Not sure what stuff that would be.

In the following he claims to have bought that Trident in 1986, before his claim of earning it in 1987. Then it went a little down hill.

These are the medals he ordered online. He says his son ordered them and he just payed for them. A couple seem to be Commemorative Medals.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of Richard Pence Jr. ever completing BUD/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team. 

Richard Pence Jr’s records were requested through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

During the time he claimed to be in SEAL training he was stationed aboard the USS Trippe, FF 1075. There is no record of him being stationed in Coronado or even on the west coast. Richard Pence was never a Navy SEAL nor did he go to BUD/S.
