Brent Wayne Eckert comes to us from Nikiski, AK. Brent constantly refers to fellow frogs or frogmen. Navy SEALs are the only U.S. military force known as Frogmen.
Brent says he’s an Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5), Warfare Operator, SEA-AIR FROMAN EXTRODINAIR, not sure what a FROMAN is, maybe trying to saying Frogman

After contacting the UDT/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of Brent Wayne Eckert ever completing BUD/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team.
Brent Wayne Eckerts records were requested through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
Based on Brent’s summary sheet, he did just over 4 years, 5 months of active service. Brent was discharged as an E-3 (not an E-5), AWAN (Naval Aircrewman rating known as Aviation Warfare Systems Operator or AW prior to 2008). Brent did complete Naval Rescue Swimmer School and SERE School. His service record shows No BUD/S, no SEAL Team. Brent’s medals and badges also show that he was not awarded the Navy Trident. He was NOT a Warfare Operator or a SEA-AIR FROMAN EXTRODINAIR
CRIMINAL RECORDS
Brent’s criminal records were quite extensive. These would have been an issue for him being in the SEALs. I guess there’s not a whole lot to do in Alaska so he fell into quite a bit of mischief. We left off most of the traffic charges just to keep the list small. To be fair, we’d like to highlight that not all of these are guilty convictions (i.e. assault charges were dismissed), so please read the dispositions.

ALASKA should adopt a “Three Strike” Law and then a loser like this would not be on the Street. With his record they’d put him away for good a long time ago.
I notice that in his list of ribbons and decorations there is the Navy and Marine Corps Medal.
That is a very PRESTIGIOUS medal that not many are awarded. It is only given to members of the Navy or Marine Corps who distinguish themselves through a heroic act not involving combat.
So, this guy actually DID do something worthwhile in the Navy. I mean, the guy is a bona fide HERO!

Another underachiever that has to compensate for his fuckups. Looks like he started out well and then screwed the pooch somewhere in his career.
Looking up he word Frogman .. I am not sure the usage above is completely correct .. from what I read below , more the Navy Seals can be called Frogman .. I am not versed in this so I am no authority on the subject whatsoever .. I do have red flags coming up over someone complaining that he uses Frogman after reading this… you don’t beat dishonesty with dishonesty …

A frogman is someone who is trained in scuba diving or swimming underwater in a tactical capacity that includes police or military work. Such personnel are also known by the more formal names of combat diver, combatant diver, or combat swimmer. The word frogman first arose in the stage name The Fearless Frogman of Paul Boyton in the 1870s[citation needed] and later was claimed by John Spence, an enlisted member of the U.S. Navy, to have been applied to him while he was training in a green waterproof suit.[1]
The term frogman is occasionally used to refer to a civilian scuba diver. Merriam-Webster defines a frogman as a person equipped for extended periods of underwater swimming, and particularly for military reconnaissance and demolition.[2]
The Oxford English Dictionary states: “A person who swims under water wearing a rubber suit, flippers, and an oxygen supply.”[3][4]
The Encyclopaedia Britannica provides a narrower definition for Frogman, Naval personnel (which suggests the possibility of other meanings) as an unarmed member of a US Navy underwater demolition team which reconnoitred beach landing areas, observed enemy positions near the shore, and detected and cleared dangerous underwater obstructions.[5]
The Cambridge Dictionary defines a frogman as: “someone who swims or works underwater for a long time wearing breathing equipment, flippers, and usually a rubber suit”.[6]
The Macmillan Dictionary definition is identical for British and American English as: “someone who does police or military work under water using special clothes and equipment”.[7]
Collins English Dictionary gives “a swimmer equipped with a rubber suit, flippers, and breathing equipment for working underwater” as the British English definition, and “a person trained and equipped, as with a rubber suit and scuba apparatus, for underwater demolition, exploration, etc.” as an American definition, citing Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition. A Navy SEAL Naval Enlisted Code (NEC) is 5326 and/or 5323 Combatant Swimmer (aka Frogman).
He was a rescue swimmer with a Navy Marine Corps (Lifesaver) Medal. Maybe he shouldn’t use be Frogman term. And he’s had some issues after he got out. But this guy was a legit hero when he was in. I’ve helped bust a lot of phonies….I don’t know about this one.
In the Navy we say Hooyah not Tha ooh rah. Nice try though Brent.
Except SeaBees. We say oorah. Divers, Seals, EOD, SeaBee divers…anyone that goes through dive school at NDSTC as well as BUD/s says hooyah.
This. All the diver jock/swimmer Sailors I knew were always HooYah hollering. Gave me pause, along with the damn 8-count body builders. I never could get past 5 on those.
I recall a remarkable number of rescue swimmers with little frog tattoos on themselves…maybe it was an 80’s thing. They referred to themselves as frogs (lower case). Not Frogmen, but frogs. They seem to have inked up after they graduated from the rescue swimmer school (which by all accounts would probably have done me in).
I don’t see any explicit statement that he is a SEAL. He says he was a SAR swimmer. He might be sloppy with his language but I am not seeing the typical stolen valor case. And really, the Navy and Marine Corps medal is no trinket.
I don’t think this rates a military phony tag.

You guys have this wrong, where is the actual SEAL and or NSW claim. I don’t see it. He was a SAR swimmer or as Navy calls them AIRR and this is part of Naval Speacial Operations along with Divers and EOD. I don’t see where Navy SEALS have only claim to the term Frogman. I joined back around that time and the term Frogman was not just for SEALS, we used term for divers and swimmers, this is just a term. I am a Seabee and we claim “Can Do” and think it belongs to our community, but other Military and Civilian’s use the term. Now Freddie the Frogman yes that is UDT, not exactly SEAL, but was passed on as they merged into one. This guy was a hero and should be treated as such.Yes he is a criminal and shit bag,but still a Hero.
In one of his posts he’s saying happy 4th to fellow frogs, go Freddie. Freddie the frog belongs to the UDT/SEAL Teams, these days there is no difference to us. Then he labels himself as a warfare operator. He was not even close to a warfare operator.
I was an 11B so should I DISGRACE myself by saying I was a Ranger? HELL NO. Remotely similar does NOT equal the SAME, and implying it is just as bad as a flat out lie.
I was contacted by one of his friends that said : “I am not saying he’s a upstanding person but he was indeed in the Navy and was a Seal. I’ve known this family well over 35 years. I am NOT close friends with them but do know he was a seal.”
So he meant frogman to mean SEAL.
Support of Naval Special Warfare (SEAL Teams) Edit
A small number of Seabees support Navy Special Warfare (NSW) units based out of Coronado, CA, and Virginia Beach, VA. Seabees provide services such as power generation/distribution, logistical movement, vehicle repair, construction and maintenance of encampments, water facilities and purification.[113][114][115][116][117] Seabees assigned to support NSW receive extra training in first aid, small arms, driving, and specialized equipment.[113][115] The Seabees assigned to NSW are expected to qualify as Expeditionary Warfare Specialists.[118][119] If desired or required by the unit, Seabees assigned to NSW are eligible to receive the following Naval Enlisted Classifications upon filling the requirements: 5306 – Naval Special Warfare (Combat Service Support) or 5307 – Naval Special Warfare (Combat Support).[120] They also can apply for selection to support the NSW Development Group.[121]
