1st bat 75th. Does not matter if you are a pfc or a captian [sic]…..
when you hit you are all equally worthless.”  – CE Hoskins

BACKGROUND

Christopher Edward Hoskins aka CE Hoskins comes to us from Nevada, TX but has also lived in Minnesota, Washington state and Vermont.

Through a Facebook private message (PM), he gave some advice on making it through Ranger school.  Claims he was 1st Battalion 75th Rangers…

Also claims he was a light weapons sergeant…

hoskins-light-weapons-sgt2

Claims his Ranger class was 7-87…

hoskins-ranger-class-number2

Claims he used to work for contracting company Triple Canopy and offered a photo up as proof.

Some people on Facebook raised some questions, but Hoskins fought back.

hoskins-gfy

He made this comment as well, but it seemed to be in jest with friends.

hoskins-screwtop

We received various definitions of ‘screwtop’, but it appears to be 1) a term for a soldier that lost the screw cap on his canteen – a screw up and/or 2) a soldier that was indignant and always told the top sergeant he was not going to do what was assigned with a defiant “Screw Top”. Not really sure but we inquired in case it had to do with some claim of special classification of a group of soldier.

Although admittedly hearsay, there were stories from the Ranger community that had Hoskins claiming he was an E-7, served in Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan, saw buddies get shot, and watched people die. We cannot confirm or deny so until people can come forward with screen shots of these claims we will give Hoskins the benefit of the doubt.

[ UPDATE: We have received confirmation of Hoskins’ claims of Desert Storm, Mogadishu and 75th Rangers. He made these claims on a radio broadcast as a call in. The entire show is provided for context but it is over two hours long. Here are Hoskins’ claims in an edited, three-minute audio clip.

Here is the entire radio broadcast:  CLICK FOR RADIO BROADCAST ]

Chris Hoskins’ official military records were requested through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

DISCUSSION & SUMMARY

DISCUSSION

There is no Ranger training listed for Chris Hoskins.  He was a 76C10 – an Equipment Records and Parts specialist.  To state it simply, Hoskins probably kept track of and handed out basketballs at the gym.  No shame in that but it was a far cry from his claims as a Ranger.

He was in Germany but there were no campaign ribbons for Iraq or Afghanistan.

He left as an E-1 under cloudy circumstances, having only served 14 months. Could have been a medical or hardship discharge, or he could have gotten in trouble. Most likely the latter since he left as an E-1.

Hoskins seems to reflect often on the events of his life…

hoskins-no-change

He wouldn’t change a thing?  I wonder if he would change this?

hoskins-burglary

If you believe his stories, that would have been pre-Afghanistan days running and gunning with the Rangers.

How about this one, during the early period in Afghanistan (2002)? Hoskins was busy back then…

hoskins-theft

And he has been busy recently…

hoskins-fleeing-police

The criminal activity seems incompatible with Hoskins’ claimed service as a Ranger unless he spent the bulk of his time securing waivers.

. . . . .

SUMMARY

Christopher Edward Hoskins’ military records do not support his claim of being a SGT or his claim of being a Ranger.

We cannot confirm or deny his claim of working with Triple Canopy as a civilian, but we can confirm Hoskins’ tendency to stretch the truth.

If his arrest and conviction record is correct, his local PD might be interested in a felon in possession of a firearm.

  2. […] Hoskins is no stranger to military groups on the interwebnet thingy.  The investigators at militaryphony.com received reports that people were beginning to doubt many of the claims he was making.  Someone […]

THANK YOU!!! For finally busting this idiot. I was married to this man from Nov. 1991-Nov. 1999 and can personally attest that all of his stories are lies!!! I’ve known Chris since I was 13 years old. I met him when he was home after basic training and was there when he came home less than a year later. I have never gotten a straight answer as to why he was discharged as the story changed multiple times. He is the biggest scumbag and I’m embarrassed to have been associated with the man! I’m glad someone is finally holding him accountable. He has a longer rap sheet, just keep digging!!

  11. Carla says:

I can confirm that he was not in Somalia or Iraq or Desert Storm/Desert Shield as he was married to me during this time and our child was born in 1992. He was in California and East TX from 1990-2004. I know he married wife #3 sometime around 2005 but they’ve since divorced. He was nowhere near the Middle East.
